FCIC held a Seminar on “Effective Partnership in the Consuting Business” in Baku, on 22.06.2010, with the attendance of many guests as well as FCIC members. There has been two presentations made by Mr. Mehmet Dönmez, and Mr. Khaja Moinuddin.

24th General Assembly Meeting

July 8th, 2010

24th General Assembly Meeting has been held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 21.06.2010, in parallel to the Annual Meeting of IDB Group. The meeting was a success with great attendance, and the new Executive Committee for the term 2010-2012 has been elected.

February 2nd, 2010

1.Continuing Professional Development

The company maintains a fully equipped training facility called CenTR (Center for Training & Research). Members of the staff undergo regular training for skill up-gradation. Successful attendance at the trainings and programmes conducted at the CenTR earns the attendees CPD credits towards maintaining their P.Eng status.

2.Assistance for P.Eng Registration  

The company actively encourages its professional staff to get registered as P.Eng and maintain their registration. Besides providing training and mentoring for P.Eng, the company provides financial incentives in the form of fees and annual subscriptions for this purpose.

3.Assistance for Professional Membership

All professional staff are encouraged to get registered with relevant national professional bodies such as the Institution of Engineers and Institute of Architects, Bangladesh and to maintain their membership. The Registration and Membership fees are paid by the Company.

4.Obtaining Higher Qualification

The company encourages acquisition of higher qualification by all levels of its professional/technical staff. It allows time for attendance of classes and provides financial incentives to those obtaining higher qualification.

5.Overseas Assignment Leave

The company recognizes that an overseas assignment provides opportunities for skill up-gradation and sanctions leave of absence for the duration of the assignment to staff members who obtain professional jobs abroad.

6.Internship The company provides facilities to university and technical school leaving students to do internship in the company. Appropriate scholarship is provided to the internees.

7.Bonus

Depending on the performance of the company, every member of the staff becomes eligible to receive an annual bonus which is based on his basic pay.

8.Life Insurance 

The company takes out individual life insurance in the name of every member of the staff below the age of 60. The insured amount varies according to the salary of the employee.

9.Medical Assistance Lower grade staff members are eligible to get reimbursement of a portion of their medical bills if they or members of their families are hospitalized.

10.Gratuity

When an employee leaves the service of the company he/she is eligible to receive a Gratuity the amount of which is calculated on the basis of the length of his service and salaries drawn over his service period.

11.Employee Shareholding Scheme Competent and loyal staff members are rewarded with share in the company under the Employee Shareholding Scheme since 2006. The share is allotted at face value for the duration of the recipient member’s employment in the company and is transferable to company’s selected nominee. An employee shareholder enjoys all benefits and privileges of the original shareholders. The Scheme is aimed at transforming the company’s corporate structure into an employee-owned company.

12.Ken Cross Cricket TrophyBCL established this Cricket Trophy at the national Sports Academy (BKSP) at Savar which is awarded to the best cricketer student of the final year annually since 2000 to promote cricket in the country. The awardee receives a complete set of cricket gears and one time cash gift with the trophy.

13.Alokito Bhuban Education Foundation

This NGO was established under the sponsorship of BCL in 2008 and is working to spread education among the poor and help the socially disadvantaged by providing skill training to become self-dependent and a productive member of the society.  

 

 

 

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of ACE (Pvt) Ltd.

January 21st, 2010

1.   ACE Employees Provident Fund Trust:
      Provident Fund is a terminal benefit offered by the company to its permanent employees. The company and employees both contribute into the Fund Trust which is managed by a Board of Trustees nominated by the company.  The trust is a separately registered legal entity with independent auditors.
2.   ACE Gratuity Fund Trust:
      This is also a terminal benefit in addition to the Provident Fund, which is based on the number of years of services. The company makes investment into the Fund Trust which is managed by a Board of Trustees nominated by the company. The trust is a separately registered legal entity with independent auditors.
3.   Hospitalization Plan:
      Employees, their spouse and children under 18 years are enrolled under a categorized hospitalization plan covered through an Insurance Company.
4.   Group Life Insurance Plan:
      All employees under the age of 60 years are covered through an Insurance company. The coverage varies according to the grade of employment.
5.   Incentives for acquiring masters degree in engineering field.
a)      Enhancements in salaries are provided to employees on obtaining Master and Doctorate qualifications.
 
b)      Employees on completing their masters and PhD qualifications in engineering are also entitled to an additional qualification allowance.
6.   Regular formal or informal training sessions are conducted by the company to update its employees technical knowledge, Management Skills and Quality Management System awareness.  
7.   Company also facilitates internship to final year Engineering students annually on selective basis.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of CONCEPT S.A.

January 12th, 2010

1. “Evening classes” studies are funded by CONCEPT for some CAD Technicians in order to upgrade to Engineering degrees.
 
2. Traineeship sessions are regularly offered to students -mainly in end of engineering course- from Tunisia and other African countries, some of the graduated students are recruited later by CONCEPT.
 
3. Sponsorship is yearly given to students for training and study tours outside Tunisia.
 
4. New hardware and software equipments were funded for the benefit of a primary school in the Saharan region of Tunisia and for the National Association of University Teachers and Researchers.

January 12th, 2010

  • Dr. Tarek Shawaf Educational Scholarship program for deserving students (children of employees) studying in-Kingdom as well as for out-of-Kingdom higher studies.  

  • SaudConsult has up-gradated computers to higher specifications to acquire the developing software and donating the old systems to the needy employees & families.

  • SaudConsult provides medical insurance coverage to employees & their families over and above the medical coverage offered by the Saudi Government (Social Security).

  • SaudConsult arranged life insurance to its employees for benefits of respective families.

  • SaudConsult provides training to engineering students from the Universities (from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) during the summer vacations.

  • SaudConsult enforced a “No-Smoking” work environment since 2007.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities (2009) of CEC

January 11th, 2010

1. CEC upgraded its computers to higher specifications to accommodate the developing software and rather than the selling the older computers (which are in a very good conditions), CEC donated these to a nearby government school.
 
2. CEC has trained a number of engineering students in their second and third years during the summer holiday on its projects in Jordan.
 
3. CEC has sponsored the Best Engineering Research competition. The competition is prepared by the Jordan Association of Engineers for Engineering students from the Jordanian Universities.
 
4. CEC is a totally no-smoking working area, use water saving fixtures and recycles all paper. All contribute positively to the Society.
 
5. CEC has prepared the Water Strategy document for Jordan for 2008-2022 (Water for Life) using its experiences and resources for the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and considered this major activity as part of its Professional and Social Responsibility and did not charge for this work.
